How to Improve Posture The Correct Way
If you have a poor posture and people call who as the hunchback of Notre Dame, then you should read this article and prove all of them wrong. You are very lucky because there are some easy steps that you can take. Below are some simple tips on how you can improve on your posture.
Here are the steps.
The first thing is to know what good posture is. Many people don’t really know about having a good posture. A lot think that tensing your back and pushing out your chest whilst tucking your tummy in and standing up tall is good posture. Well whilst that may be helpful, it is not so. The spinal cord is made up of two curves called the double S curves, and these you have to maintain. These curves run right from your head to your shoulders, whilst the other runs from your shoulders to your lower spine. When you stand upright, just ensure that your weight is evenly distributed on your feet. This may make you feel as if you are leaning forward, but you are not.
Align your ears, hips and shoulders using a mirror. These points make a straight line, but you will note that the spine curves in ‘S’ manner and it doesn’t even hurt at all. If you do undergo any form of pain then look at your mirror and try to see if you are in any way forcing your back into an unusual or unnatural position. If that’s the case then you ought to stop.
You need to do some exercises that concentrate on gaining muscles on your upper back and shoulder. Try out exercises explain below.
¢ Line up your ears right over your shoulders and raise your arms in a straight manner next to your ears. Stay focus so that your ears remain straight. Now bend your arms towards the shoulder blades and repeat this at least 10 times.
¢ Line up your ears and shoulders. Then raise both your arms to the sides at roughly shoulder height. Count up to 15 whilst raising your arms. Do 10 repetitions whilst checking your alignment on a constant basis. If you find it difficult to this in 10 repititions, then try doing as many as you can up until you feel some form of fatigue in your shoulder muscles.
¢ Try and be a penguin. Whilst waiting for the bread to toast, place your elbows by your side and at the same time touch your shoulders with your hands. With your hands on your shoulders and your ears in line, raise your elbows and count up to 2, lower them and do the same. Do as many repetitions as you can and you will be surprised by how many you will have done in 30 seconds.
Do some stretches. If you have been suffering from sore back or neck, then stretches can cure it a little bit.
¢ Roll and tilt your neck in an anti clock and clockwise manner.
